Low Water or Drought Resistant Lawn and Garden
With the case of water shortage increasing in different parts of the world and with global warming causing some regions to have a warmer climate, more and more home owners are having problems maintaining a green and beautiful lawn. Although many people spend extra efforts and even money in landscaping and planning a good looking lawn and garden, drought and water restrictions in some area can really be a tough challenge to face especially during summer when lawns require more water to combat heat and evaporation.
To be able to still keep a green and beautiful lawn even in hot climate, many home owners and garden keepers opted for a low water and drought resistant lawn. Drought resistant lawns and gardens seem to be an intimidating challenge at first. However, with enough knowledge and proper planning, a green and lush garden or lawn that can withstand the harsh summer heat and cruel drought is achievable.
A low water or drought resistant garden and lawn should have a healthy, rich soil. To achieve this, soil additives and fertilizers can be applied onto the soil. Of course a low water garden requires plants that don’t need much water. The garden watering system should also be planned. If possible, constructing a garden watering system that catches, stores and uses rain water is a good idea to conserve water.
